It is Vietnamese food that you can find easily in Laos too. It is the best for breakfast. Let's try to cook at home today :) simple but not easy !

  • 5 tablespoons of sugar
  • 4 tablespoons of water, more or less if needed
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of lime, more or less if needed
  • 1 tablespoon of red chili, chopped or use chili powder instead
  • 1 tablespoon of shredded carrot

For Batter

Preparation

1. Filling:

- Have a pan, add oil and garlic, stir fry until garlic become light golden, add minced pork, seasoning with oyster sauce, salt, and ground black pepper. Then add chopped wood ear mushroom. Stir fry all together until the pork is cooked, about 5-8 minutes.

2. Dipping sauce:

- Have a small pot, add water, sugar, and salt. boil until the sugar dissolved. Let is cool, then add lime, chili, and shredded carrots. Adjust the taste as you prefer.

3. Batter:

- Mix rice flour, tapioca flour, and water into the big bowl. Mix all together.

- Have a pot filled with water, cover the top of pot with white cloth cotton cooking steaming net (tie firmly with cotton rope). If you do not have these tools, a pan can be an option. When the pot is hot, pour the batter into the surface of cloth, make the shape like crepe sheet. Add filling, then cover with lid about 10 seconds. Then remove the lid, and use wooden stick or long spoon ( brush with oil if needed) to roll cover the filling. Then take it out to the plate. Repeat the same way one by one until finished.

Serve with dipping sauce and vegetables. Enjoy!
